WHAT WILL I BE?
Research your own interests, gather up brochures and pamphlets from Career Expos, information sessions and Open Days, discuss careers and options with people you meet. Deciding on a career can be difficult, but is much easier if you are informed about your choices. Try not to think too far ahead, fast forwarding any more than five years can make career decision making seem daunting. Here are some useful tips to get you started:
- Think about you interests - sport, art, writing, music? Which school subjects appeal to you most?
- What are your strengths? Do you enjoy making things, designing things, making things look good or figuring out how much profit you can make?
- What is important to you? Do you like spending time with and helping others? Making scientific discoveries, working outdoors or making lots of money?
REMEMBER - you are not planning for the rest of your life. Research shows that you may have as many as six different careers in your lifetime.
