Cocurricula Music & Drama
The School has established a program for students wishing to learn a musical instrument and/or singing, speech or drama. These lessons are provided at the School, during school hours and are conducted on a fee for service basis. The current charge for 2009 is $23.00 for an individual lesson of 30 minutes and $15.00 for a group lesson of 30 Minutes. Group lessons are conducted only when 2-3 students are learning at the same level of competency. Drum lessons are currently $28 for 30 minutes.
The program offers lessons in: ·
Drums/ Percussion · Voice · Guitar · Clarinet
Flute · Piano · Trombone · Trumpet ·
Cornet · Theory · Saxophone · Speech and Drama
Students must provide their own instruments, though they can be hired (please contact individual music teacher to arrange hire – contact details are available from the school office). The only other possible costs are: instruction books requested by the teacher, the cost of any exams students choose to sit. A certain number of lessons are guaranteed each term and make up lessons will be provided under certain circumstances, shown on the attached application form. It is your child’s responsibility to remember their lesson and to remember their instrument. Lessons missed through forgetfulness must still be paid for as the instructor has to come in unless notified the day before. A term’s notice must be given of a decision to withdraw from the program. As the program grows every effort will be made to rotate lesson times so the same subject is not missed each week. At this stage, while numbers are small this may not be possible. Please note that students taking part in this program are expected to participate in one of the School’s bands, ensembles or in the choir.
