A confusing start to the debate competition at Boort Secondary School, with the “first-ever” three way debate coordinated by organisers.
Moama Anglican Grammar School argued the affirmative side of the debate with Kerang Technical College, while Boort Secondary School argued the negative.
The teams debated the topic ‘Australian rules football sets more bad examples than good’, with the Intermediate team (Hannah Williams, Alyssa Hunter, Angus Mawson and Rory Jones) winning the debate.
The Junior team (Katrina Paul, Caitlin Ebsworth, Jamison Horne and Mia Oberin) also won their debate ‘That the gender selection of babies be allowed in Australia’.
The Juniors unfortunately lost their second round debate, but the Intermediate team won their second debate and now progress to debate against St Joseph’s College.
Congratulations to all students involved.
