Moama Anglican Grammar’s Showcase Afternoon is a unique opportunity for 2020 Year 7’s to participate in the Transition Experience Program. The focus of this showcase is to welcome students and families into our secondary school and experience Year 7.
For many students transition from Primary to Secondary schools evokes a variety of emotions, including feelings of excitement and anxiousness. For families it is also an exciting and challenging time. Being part of this afternoon can support students to feel confident and comfortable starting High School.
We provide Year 7 2020 students with opportunities to develop social relationships within their year level, extend their knowledge about what it will be like to be a Moama Anglican Grammar secondary student and to build their personal confidence.
The Year 7 Showcase afternoon, will involve our current Year 6 students and new students offered or considering places for 2020. The afternoon will consist of a brief introductory session by the Principal, Head of Secondary School and Year 7 Coordinator who explain the culture, ethos, structure and operations of the school. This will be followed by a rotation through mini-lessons across the school.
Parents and Guardians are invited to enjoy an informal Q&A session with senior staff during this time.
We believe strongly that we have the best educational program and most expert teachers in the area. These “mini” lessons are designed to engage students and allow for the building of relationships between all members of the new cohort.
The passage from primary to secondary school is one of the biggest changes a young person will experience.
Moama Anglican Grammar’s Transition Program is well-planned and implemented to support students, their families and school staff in the process of transition. Our program’s multi-faceted approach provides the pathways to settle well into school life, demonstrate greater levels of interest in school and school work and display higher levels of self-esteem and confidence.
