About Moama Anglican Grammar School
We are a co-educational, Anglican School of excellence, open to all, in a caring, Christian and disciplined environment. We offer high quality, affordable education to the HSC, emphasising care of students and their families, academic excellence, participation in a range of activities, links with the community, innovative pathways in education and growth in Christian and civic values. Whilst parents of students at our School need not be Anglicans, they must be supportive of our School's Christian philosophy and principles.
CURRICULUM
The School will meet all requirements of the NSW Board of Studies. Ultimately it will offer comprehensive and appropriate educational programs in the full range of Key Learning Areas from Year 5 to Year 12. The School will stress flexible progression of students in an imaginative, purposeful and enjoyable learning environment.
Extra time is provided for the humanities and the social sciences in order to provide a philosophical basis for the student’s future studies. Language study is encouraged and computer use is mandatory as an adjunct or tool for existing disciplines, in order for the students to recognise the importance of technology in specific contexts.
Particular emphasis is placed on learning by doing, or experiential education, in as many areas as is appropriate and practical.
WELFARE AND DISCIPLINE
These policies are clearly outlined in the School Handbook. Bullying and harassment are particularly targeted as being irreconcilable with the School’s educational philosophy. A significant component of the School’s approach lies in the spending of time with those for whom behaviour is an issue. There is a very strong emphasis on pastoral care with opportunities for individual care and counselling, especially with the involvement of the appropriate staff.
The School aims to have all students grow in self-discipline and to show care and understanding for the particular needs and circumstances of every student. At the same time, the School requires conformity to the highest possible standards of courtesy, public behaviour and uniform.
Corporal punishment is not sanctioned within the School.
UNIQUE ACTIVITIES
A high involvement in a range of School and community activities is expected from the students. In line with the liberal nature of the School, sporting activities, public speaking, School productions, representation in community groups and forums, service activities in association with local service clubs, charity work, outdoor and experiential activities, all facilitate interest outside School activities.
As students move through the School, innovative ways of allowing them to achieve their goals will be developed, which may involve the concept of Open Learning through flexible links between school, TAFE Schools, Universities, other RTO’s, on-line learning and structured work placement.
