As students move through Secondary School, they embark on an increasingly personalised learning journey. Beginning with a broad and balanced curriculum in Year 7, students gradually gain greater choice from Year 8 onwards through a diverse range of core and elective subjects. This flexible approach allows students to discover their strengths, pursue their interests, and challenge themselves as they prepare for future pathways.
Our teachers utilise evidence based Science of Learning principles to maximise student achievement and engagement. Through carefully designed instruction, explicit teaching, retrieval practice, feedback, and opportunities to think through concepts, students develop strong knowledge foundations and the skills needed to become confident, independent learners.
Students benefit from access to outstanding learning environments and shared facilities. Specialist learning spaces such as our Multi-Purpose Stadium, Science laboratories, Art studios, our Agricultural plot, Gunbower Estate and a fully equipped Food Technology kitchen provide authentic, hands on learning experiences that foster creativity, innovation, and practical skills.
Years 7-8 (Stage 4)
These years are considered important formative years during which students are given the opportunity to study courses from a diverse range of subject areas. All students in Year 7 study a common group of subjects from a wide range of curriculum areas at this stage. From Year 8 students select from a range of electives. This diverse range of courses fulfills the needs of the majority of students; however, those who need extension beyond the basic outcomes are offered the opportunity to complete work that is suitably challenging.

2026 Year 6-8 Student Sports Program

Years 9-10 (Stage 5)
In Years 9 and 10, students also select elective courses, while continuing to study a common core of subjects that provide a strong foundation for their learning. All Year 9 and 10 students study English, Mathematics, Science, PDHPE, Australian History, Australian Geography, and Religious Values Education. Students in Year 9 select from six semester based electives and Year 10 choose three year long electives.
All Year 9 students participate in the Beacon program. In Year 10, every student participates in the Careers program, which provides a personalised profile outlining their career interests and strengths. Year 10 students also take part in the Careers Camp and complete work experience.
Students in Years 9 and 10 have the opportunity to participate in Student Interest Modules (SIMs) during periods 5 and 6, one day each week. Each SIM runs for five weeks, with students completing four per semester. These modules provide opportunities to explore interests beyond the traditional classroom and further develop a broad skill set.

2026 Student Interest Modules (SIMs)
Explore the 2026 SIMS (Student Interest Modules). Student Interest Modules (SIMs) offer Year 9 and 10 students the chance to explore new interests and opportunities beyond the classroom. These five-week programs run weekly and help students grow skills, confidence, and engagement in fun, meaningful ways. Access here.
Years 11-12 (Stage 6)
The award of the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) is made at the end of at least two years of study. Year 11 is known as Preliminary. Students have to complete 120 hours (roughly equivalent to three terms) of a subject at Preliminary level prior to attempting that subject at HSC level. HSC Courses run from early Term 4 in Year 11 until October of Year 12 when the HSC exams commence.
Preliminary Courses
Students must study at least 12 units (with English being a mandatory course) in Year 11. Most subjects are worth two units, so students will traditionally complete six subjects at this level.
HSC Courses
Students must study at least 10 units at HSC level. Most subjects are worth two units, so most courses will consist of five subjects at this level. English is the only compulsory course for the HSC.
